Little Moir's Food Shack: A Backpacking Trip Turned Jupiter Seafood Institution

Monday 24 August 2026·By Little Moir's Food Shack

Little Moir's Food Shack is a casual seafood restaurant tucked into a small plaza on US-1 in Jupiter, prized for globally inspired dishes served in an unpretentious, art-covered space. What began as a modest counter-service spot has grown into one of the anchors of Jupiter's dining scene, drawing a steady mix of locals, boaters, and visitors curious about its reputation.

Seafood With a Global Accent

The kitchen's approach reflects owner Mike Moir's travels through Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Hawaii, blending fresh Florida seafood with international flavors. Dishes have included tripletail with a butternut-jalapeño-garlic crust, sweet potato-crusted fish over greens, panko-fried oysters, grilled shrimp egg rolls, and a riff on comfort food called the "Indoroni" mac and cheese. Desserts have featured coconut crème brûlée cheesecake and key lime pie, alongside creative drinks like tamarind margaritas. The menu shifts over time, but the emphasis on bold, well-traveled flavor has remained consistent.

From a Backpacking Trip to a Jupiter Institution

Moir opened the Food Shack in the early 2000s after a backpacking trip through Asia and the Pacific. The restaurant drew wider attention after New York Times food critic Bryan Miller singled it out in a 2004 review as one of the best places he'd visited, and it has since expanded into a small local restaurant group that also includes Leftovers Cafe, the adjoining live-music venue Maxi's Lineup, and a catering and seafood-market operation. Seating remains informal, with counter stools facing the open kitchen, booths, and a full bar, and the restaurant continues to offer catering and private-event bookings for outside gatherings.

Little Moir's Food Shack is located at 103 US-1 #D3, Jupiter, FL 33477. It remains a go-to stop for visitors seeking casual, globally inflected seafood in a laid-back, come-as-you-are setting.
